Tolerance to Interfering Substances
Maintains performance in the presence of inhibitors like NaCl (maximum 50mM), EDTA (maximum 1mM), urea (> 200mM), ethanol (maximum 2.5%), FBS (> 10%), DMSO (> 10%), and high DTT concentrations (8mM).
Modified Nucleotide Incorporation
AbTaq can incorporate modified nucleotides like dUTP in real time and end point PCR reactions.
Typical Taq polymerases have limited or no ability to incorporate modified nucleotides.
Experiment Results:
The control lane contained only the oligonucleotide without any enzyme, serving as a baseline for no nucleotide incorporation. AbTaq™ and SoTaq successfully incorporated three modified nucleotides, while Bst polymerase with udUTP incorporated only one nucleotide.

Samples were incubated at 40°C, withdrawn over a period of 30 minutes and run on a urea-TBE polyacrylamide gel (In optimal conditions, AbTaq™ has extension speeds of 10 seconds per kilobase). mdUTP: Modified deoxyuridine triphosphate, used for specialized DNA synthesis. udUTP: Standard deoxyuridine triphosphate, used as a regular component in DNA synthesis. SoTaq: SoTaq is another of our engineered Taq polymerases (testing-in-progress). Bst: Bst polymerase is derived from Bacillus stearothermophilus and is known for its use in isothermal amplification techniques.
Template Length Amplification
Successfully amplified fragments between 500 bp and 4 kb from plasmid DNA.
Many standard Taq polymerases struggle with templates over 3 kb.
Extension Speed
Demonstrates fast extension speeds, as fast as 10 seconds per kilobase.
Typical Taq polymerases have extension speeds of 30-60 seconds per kilobase.
Hot Start Activation
Only active above room temperature, enhancing specificity and reducing non-specific amplification.
Standard Taq polymerases often lack this specificity.
